AUDIT
Technical SEO Audit · Kemb GmbH
YOUR WEBSITE HAS BEEN CHECKED.
FOR GOOGLE. AND FOR
AI CRAWLER.
A technical SEO audit reveals where your website’s crawlability, indexing, and performance are hurting your rankings. At Kemb, we also check whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot can even read your content. A page that’s optimized for Google may still be invisible to AI systems.

The Problem
Optimized for Google, invisible to AI crawlers.
Most technical SEO issues have remained the same for years: incorrect robots.txt files, messy sitemaps, slow load times, and a lack of a mobile-first structure. What a traditional audit overlooks is whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot are even allowed to crawl the site, and whether structured data is available that AI systems need for citations.
The Approach
One audit, two target audiences: Google and AI.
We’re examining the same technical foundation that traditional SEO has always relied on, and supplementing it with the factors that will determine AI visibility in 2026: crawlability, rendering, and structured data.
Consulting
A brief discussion about the current status, goals, and known issues with your website. This will serve as the basis for determining the scope of the audit.
Technical SEO Audit
Comprehensive audit of crawlability, indexing, performance, mobile display, and AI crawler access.
Handover & Implementation
A prioritized list of measures with clear recommendations for action. Upon request, we can also handle the implementation.

What Our Technical SEO Audit Covers
No off-the-shelf package. Clear scope, dedicated points of contact, measurable results.
01
Infrastructure
Crawlability & Indexing
robots.txt, DNS settings, sitemap.xml, and canonical tags, plus a check to see if GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot have access. Data-driven assessment of the technical foundation, for Google and for AI crawlers.
02
Structure & Data
Page Structure & Schema Markup
Logical page structure, effective internal linking, and accessibility of relevant content. In addition: structured data (Schema.org), which AI systems use to select their citations.
03
Performance
Mobile Performance & Core Web Vitals
Mobile-first indexing, Core Web Vitals, and mobile score, including image and script compression, lazy loading, and JavaScript rendering behavior that determines visibility for both Google AND AI crawlers.
Part of the Growth Flywheel
We’re happy to take on the individual components. Ultimately, however, it’s never about isolated pieces — it’s about the bigger picture.
Every service is designed to fit into the system — so that tracking, the team and activation work together to drive the flywheel.
Your result
A list of measures, not a list of raw data.
You’ll receive a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, prioritized by effort and impact, with clear recommendations for action rather than just a list of problems. Upon request, we can also handle the implementation or develop a comprehensive SEO and AEO strategy for your website.
Honesty
When we should pass and when we shouldn’t.
We’d rather work with the right customers than with everyone. That saves time for both sides.
You’ll be in the right place with us if…
You suspect technical issues are the cause of poor rankings, but you’re not sure exactly where
You want to have a new website undergo technical testing before it goes live
You want to be visible to both Google and AI crawlers, not just one of them
You want a prioritized list of specific actions, not just a general overview
Less suitable if…
Your website does not currently allow for technical changes, or there is no one responsible for them
You want to focus exclusively on content or keyword issues, without getting into the technical details
An audit that is intended to remain a one-time snapshot for you rather than a basis for ongoing optimization
Currently, no one internally has the time to review or approve the recommended fixes

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of a technical SEO audit?+
A technical SEO audit identifies issues that affect your website’s crawling, indexing, and ranking—from robots.txt errors to slow load times. At Kemb, we also check whether AI crawlers like GPTBot can even read your content.
What’s new about an SEO audit that also checks AI crawlers?+
Traditional audits only optimize for Googlebot. However, four of the six major AI crawlers read only static HTML and require their own robots.txt permissions. An audit that only takes Google into account therefore overlooks a growing portion of your visibility.
What exactly does a technical SEO audit entail?+
Crawlability and indexing, page structure, on-page factors such as meta titles and headings, mobile performance, and Core Web Vitals, supplemented by a check of AI crawler access and Schema markup. The result is a prioritized list of actions.
How often should I have a technical SEO audit performed?+
We recommend a comprehensive audit at least once a year or after major website changes, supplemented by ongoing monitoring in between. AI crawler behavior and search algorithms change faster than a one-time audit can capture.
How long does it take for the results of an audit to become apparent?+
Technical fixes often take effect within a few weeks, while traditional ranking improvements usually take several months. Whether and when AI systems will cite a page more frequently also depends on training and retrieval cycles, which cannot be predicted across the board.
Can a technical SEO audit lead to short-term drops in rankings?+
Temporary fluctuations are possible, as search engines re-evaluate the website following changes. However, the recommended measures are aimed at long-term improvements, not short-term spikes.
What tools does Kemb use for technical SEO audits?+
These include Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, and our own crawl analyses, which also track AI crawler access and rendering behavior—not just traditional search engine signals.
Is a technical SEO audit enough, or do I also need a content strategy?+
The technical audit is the foundation: Without crawlability and a clean structure, even the best content won’t be effective. For keyword strategy and content prioritization, we can supplement the audit with a keyword analysis upon request.
