Migration or Rebuilding—Which Is Right for Me?+
Building a system from scratch is worthwhile if no robust infrastructure exists yet. Migration is the right approach if systems are already in place but are reaching their limits or creating silos. We assess this during the initial assessment before making any recommendations.
What tools does Kemb use for its BI infrastructure?+
We typically use Fivetran for data integration, dbt for data transformation, and Snowflake for storage. Power BI is frequently used for reports and dashboards. We are not tied to any specific provider and tailor our selection to what you’re already using.
How long does a BI infrastructure migration take?+
That depends on the number of systems and the volume of data. A targeted migration of individual data sources can often be completed in a few weeks, while a company-wide migration usually takes several months.
Do I need to interrupt my ongoing operations for the migration?+
No, that is explicitly the goal. We plan migrations so that existing reports and systems continue to run while the new infrastructure is set up in parallel and gradually phased in.
What is the difference between setup and optimization?+
Setup involves building or migrating a new infrastructure. Optimization focuses on existing systems that are already up and running but are facing issues with performance, costs, or scalability. Many customers start with optimization rather than building from scratch right away.
What does BI infrastructure have to do with AI projects?+
Every AI project needs a clean, consistent database. Without this foundation, even the best AI will only provide answers that sound convincing but are actually incorrect, based on contradictory or incomplete data. BI infrastructure is therefore a prerequisite, not an optional extra step.
